The Future of Administrative and Tax Justice: The Place of the Courts

September 19, 2024, 10h00

Centro de Informação Urbana de Lisboa (CIUL) [Picoas Plaza - Lisbon]

Administrative and tax justice, by virtue of its current competencies, plays a central role in the fulfilment of the rule of Law. Ensuring legality and the defence of legitimate interests in relations between citizens, companies, and the public administration, it not only contributes to building a fairer and more democratic society but also plays an important role in attracting investment.

Its importance in the various areas of life in society requires this jurisdiction not only to take robust measures to build a faster, more efficient and effective justice system, but also to adapt to new challenges posed by society. In this context, this international conference aims to be a relevant moment for discussion on the current dynamics and challenges, as well as new paths, reflecting on the future of the administrative and tax jurisdiction.

This conference is part of the series “Contemporary Challenges and Dynamics of Administrative and Tax Justice”, carried out as part of the study “Time and the Functional Performance of Administrative and Tax Courts”, requested by the Directorate-General for the Administration of Justice, which is being developed by the Permanent Observatory for Justice of the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra.

Entrance is free, but registration is compulsory [HERE].
