Teresa Pizarro Beleza | Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon from 1977 to 1998, where she taught Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology. Professor at NOVA School of Law since 1998, where she also taught ‘Social Equality Law’. Director and Chair of the Pedagogical Council between 2009 and 2018.

Currently retired professor at NOVA School of Law, NOVA University. Participated as a representative of the European Union in Human Rights Dialogues with the People's Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Iran. She served a four-year term as an elected member representing Portugal on the CPT (Committee for the Prevention of Torture) of the Council of Europe, carrying out missions to monitor conditions of detention under public authority in several countries, under the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1987). In 2014, she joined several colleagues from other schools at NOVA University to develop a new Doctoral Programme in Globalisation Studies, funded by the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology).

In 2018, she took on the coordination of the new Doctoral Programme in Gender Studies, a joint venture between NOVA University Lisbon and the University of Lisbon, together with Prof. Anália Torres (ULisboa-ISCSP) and Prof. Manuel Lisboa (NOVA-FCSH). She has taught ‘Human Rights’ in both doctoral programmes since their inception and coordinated a Cluster on Gender at E.Ma (Venice) for several years.

She has co-directed the postgraduate course in Human Rights, together with Vital Moreira and Jónatas Machado, at the University of Coimbra for the last twenty years. In March 2023, she was chosen by the Portuguese Government to lead and build the Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia.

Ana Oliveira | Ana Oliveira (AO) is a sociologist and researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (CES). AO holds a PhD in Feminist Studies (2018) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the same University, with a thesis in the field of feminist legal theory. Focusing on the normative expression of harassment in the sources of criminal and labour law, this thesis was published by the Contemporary History Press under the title "Harassment: socio-legal approaches to sexuality".

AO has been conducting research at CES since 2009, having participated in several national and international projects on topics such as domestic violence, homicides in intimate relationships, sexual discrimination, LGBT policies, feminisation of the legal professions, trafficking in human beings and asylum and international protection policies. AO is currently coordinating the project "LAWCUS - Sexual harassment in law and extra-lawscapes", in close articulation with the project AO is developing within the scope of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC, 2022-2028), both funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

Anchored in the social and cultural studies of law, AO's research interests converge on the legal status of sex and sexuality, taking harassment, pornography or 'sex robots', digital platforms and interfaces as an observatory of epistemological problems and speculative scenarios that interpellate the way of conceiving, imagining and regulating fantasy, the subject and social relations.
