SuPriR
Survey of Priorities for Research
SuPriR is a project dedicated to the study of research priorities. We develop and pilot a survey asking the general public what research priorities they consider to be the most urgent, and why. Responses will make it possible to explore how to scale up the survey nationally and internationally, understand why some priorities may be perceived to be more urgent than others, and how to align research funding to meet those priorities. Results will inform the academic community, research funding organizations, and society.
To date, there are no research priority-setting exercises that are participatory (bottom-up), scalable, standardized, and openly shared. Furthermore, there are knowledge gaps about the public perception of research priorities, how they vary across social contexts, and how they are made.
SuPriR as a national pilot, examining how research priorities vary across social groups – by gender, age and socio-economic status – with particular attention to women and young people.
A scalable survey of research priorities to be implemented first in Portugal, and then across several European countries.
This project has received funding from Santander Portugal Foundation under the 7th Edition of "Seed Projects for Interdisciplinary Research” call, promoted by the University of Coimbra.
