Ana Miguel Regedor
Biography
Ana Miguel Regedor is a lawyer who holds an European Masters' in Human Rights and Democratisation. Currently a PhD candidate in Human Rights in Contemporary Societies at the Centre for Social Studies and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra, where she serves as a member of the Ethics Commission. Trained in the fields of asylum, migration, and nationality litigation, as well as human rights complaints, gender equality, human trafficking, peace operations, and humanitarian action, Ana has worked with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Development Programme in Cape Verde, and coordinated EU-funded dialogues with Canada and Palestine. Ana collaborated with civil society organisations in Greece (European Lawyers in Lesvos), Germany (Aegis Heritage Institute), Peru (Comunidad Shipibo de Cantagallo), and Portugal (Amnesty International and the Portuguese Association for Victim Support). Ana is a member of COST Action CA22149 - Research Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Transhistorical Deliberative Democracy (CHANGECODE, 2023-2027), and a founding member of the Intersectional and Urban Study Group, based at the University of Algarve (UAlg), in collaboration with scholars from UAb, FAUP, ISCTE, CES, Loyola University and Granada University. As part of her involvement in the Inter-Thematic Group on Migration (ITM/CES-UC), she co-organised the Humaniza film showcase in Coimbra and Faro (2024 and 2025). Ana served as a board member of Cineclube de Faro, as a jury member of the Film Festival Caminhos do Cinema Português (2025), the Selection Committees for the Official Programme of the Arquiteturas Film Festival (2025) under the theme At the Border and for the Global Migration Film Festival (2020). The work of Ana crosses human rights, migrations, sociology, biographical research, democratization and follows a multidisciplinary perspective and a collaborative approach, advancing inclusive perspectives on the right to migrate.
