Biography
Lygia Zamali Fernandes is an Amazonian researcher born in Santarém, Pará, Brazil, with an academic and professional trajectory rooted in the Amazon region. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, an MBA in Project Management from the Universidade de São Paulo, and a postgraduate degree in Social Economy from the Universidade de Coimbra. Her work lies at the intersection of socio-bioeconomy, territorial governance, climate change, and public policy, with a focus on traditional peoples and communities. She has experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of development projects and public policies related to socio-productive inclusion, social protection, food security, and solidarity economy, as well as in strengthening international development cooperation strategies. Her research interests include territorial governance, socio-bioeconomy, environmental justice, public policy, international development cooperation, and Southern epistemologies, grounded in decolonial and insurgent approaches. Her trajectory combines applied research, territorial engagement, and policy advocacy, contributing to alternative development pathways aligned with the socio-cultural and ecological dynamics of the Amazon.
