Roberta Scatolini


Biography

PhD candidate in Feminist Studies at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra (CES/FLUC/UC), with the dissertation project "Popular Education and Corporeality: Possible Dialogues for a Praxis of Feminist Education", funded by FCT. Holds a Master's degree in Education: Educational Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), with the dissertation "A Study of Corporeality with Educators: An Experience with the Theatre of the Oppressed" (2012). She graduated in Psychology at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo (1996), and trained as an actress at Célia Helena, Centre for Arts and Education, São Paulo (1997). She completed the Introduction to Clinical Psychodrama course at Escola Paulista de Psicodrama (2006) and holds a Specialization in Feminist Studies from the Centre for Social Studies (CES) and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUC), University of Coimbra (2019). She worked as a pedagogical coordinator in several projects in the areas of education, culture, arts, and Human Rights at the Paulo Freire Institute, São Paulo (2006-2015), with special emphasis on Pontos de Cultura, part of the Cultura Viva Program during Minister Gilberto Gil's administration. As a Popular Educator, she took part in various projects at the Núcleo de Trabalhos Comunitários of the Faculty of Education, PUC/SP (1997-2006), focusing on the continuing education of teachers and educators from both formal and non-formal education across Brazil. She also worked as Supervisor of Teaching and Research at the Training Centre for Urban Security of the Municipality of São Paulo (2002-2005) and at the Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC/SP), in the area of programming/curation in Education, Theatre, and Literature. In Portugal, she has facilitated Theatre of the Oppressed workshops with public-school students within the scope of the CES Goes to School Program, with women's groups organized by UMAR - União de Mulheres Alternativa e Resposta, and in the following international training programs offered by CES/UC: Summer School "The Pluriverse of Eco-Social Justice" (2022) and "Un-schooling the Summer: Walking the Line of Environmental Injustice in Alentejo" (2023). As a psychologist, she provides online counselling in Brazil (CRP 50418-6) and in-person sessions in Coimbra, Portugal (OPP30370). She is currently part of the project "Ouvir a voz do Barroso" (Listening to the Voice of Barroso), proposed by the collective Unidos em Defesa de Covas do Barroso and funded by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, where she develops Theatre of the Oppressed workshops with residents of local villages.
