Boaventura de Sousa Santos, director emeritus of the UC's Centre for Social Studies, was awarded the DIGNITATE Prize, a prize from the Inter-American Institute for Research and Teaching in Human Rights (IAIRTHR-IIIDDH), a Mexican institution that has been dedicated to maintaining respect, protection, defence, study and promotion of human rights, mainly in the Mexican State and in alliance with the member countries of the Organisation of American States.

The award ceremony took place on 23 June and included the conference «If God Were a Human Rights Activist» given by the recipient.
