On March 19, during the celebration of the Festive Day of the Coimbra Military Health Centre (CSMC), Luísa Sales, a psychiatrist and researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), was awarded the D. Afonso Henriques Medal - Army Merit by the Portuguese Army.

Luísa Sales, former director of the Psychiatry Service at the former Coimbra Military Hospital and former coordinator of the CES - University of Coimbra Trauma Centre/Trauma Observatory, has developed significant work in the areas of psychiatric and psychosocial intervention in crises, disaster psychiatry, post-traumatic stress and psychological pathologies in ex-combatants.

The D. Afonso Henriques Medal - Army Merit is a distinction awarded to military personnel and civilians who, through their qualities and actions, contribute significantly to the prestige and fulfilment of the Portuguese Army's mission.
